Service terms · updated August 11, 2026

A sponsor funds the process. A storyteller controls the story.

These terms describe the StorySitting service operated by AMF LLC. By buying a Story Start, creating an account, accepting a permission request, or submitting family material, you agree to the parts that apply to your role.

The service

StorySitting arranges consent-first family oral-history projects. Services may include permission handling, scheduling, disclosed AI phone interviewing, recording, transcription, editing, human quality review, Story Drops, source maps, digital chapters, family collaboration, exports, and optional printed products.

Schedules and deliverable length are estimates. Speech clarity, call length, family corrections, sensitive content, provider outages, and storyteller availability can affect completion.

Permission belongs to the storyteller

A sponsor confirms that they have a genuine relationship or legitimate reason to request contact with the adult they identify. That request is not consent from the storyteller.

The storyteller independently chooses whether StorySitting may contact them, use an AI interviewer, record, transcribe, edit, or share each story with named family members. We may reconfirm permission on every call. A “no,” uncertainty, confusion, stop request, or do-not-call request ends the relevant activity.

The sponsor may not impersonate the storyteller, bypass a refusal, provide a number for harassment, or use StorySitting to contact someone subject to a protective order or other no-contact restriction.

Payment and refunds

$5Story Start
$39Voice Edition
$79Story Edition
$149Heirloom Edition

The $5 pays for permission setup, outreach, and the authorized sitting process. It is non-refundable after that work begins. Storyteller authorization does not trigger a result charge. StorySitting first conducts the authorized sitting and prepares a private result preview. The sponsor then chooses whether to keep the Voice Edition ($39), Story Edition ($79), or Heirloom Edition ($149). There is no subscription and no automatic next call or edition purchase.

The Voice Edition includes the full original recording, readable transcript, permission record, and portable downloads. The Story Edition adds a source-linked finished chapter, complete archive, and one factual correction round. The Heirloom Edition adds a print-ready designed PDF with layout for up to 12 submitted family artifacts and a second correction round. Availability requires the relevant files to pass StorySitting’s delivery review.

A family may upgrade by paying only the difference between its active edition and the larger edition. A refund, cancellation, or dispute reduces access to the highest edition still covered by active payments. If a paid digital edition still materially fails to match its stated deliverables after its included correction or support process, contact us promptly for review and an eligible refund. Abuse, fraud, a request to invent facts, or a dispute unrelated to the deliverable may not qualify.

Each requested next sitting begins with another $5 Story Start and its own storyteller permission. Optional bound books start at $89 plus shipping; page count, copies, shipping, and tax are confirmed before payment. Family Collections and any expanded editorial services are separately scoped and quoted in writing.

Ownership and family material

The storyteller retains their rights in their voice, identity, and original account. Contributors retain their rights in material they supply. They grant StorySitting a limited permission to store, process, edit, reproduce, and deliver that material only as needed for the requested private project.

Contributors confirm that they have permission to share uploaded photographs, recordings, documents, recipes, and other files for this family project. Do not submit material you have no right to use.

After payment, the family may use the delivered files for private family purposes. Public, commercial, defamatory, deceptive, or impersonating use is not authorized by these terms.

Memory, accuracy, and editing

Oral history records a person’s recollection. It is not a verified genealogy, legal record, medical assessment, or promise that every memory is objectively complete. Family members may remember the same event differently.

StorySitting may remove repetition, reorder material for readability, and make light grammatical edits while preserving meaning and voice. We do not promise perfect transcription. Names, dates, privacy, and material factual corrections should be raised during review.

We may pause delivery for human review when a call includes sensitive allegations, apparent confusion, threats, abuse, self-harm, financial information, or other content that should not be automatically published.

Safe and acceptable use

  • Do not use StorySitting for surveillance, deception, coercion, impersonation, financial solicitation, therapy, emergency response, or evidence gathering.
  • Do not ask the interviewer to collect passwords, account numbers, security answers, or secrets unrelated to the family story.
  • Do not upload malware, unlawful material, or private information you are not authorized to share.
  • Do not attempt to extract system prompts, disrupt calls, abuse providers, or evade access controls.

We may refuse, pause, or close a project when safety, consent, legality, or service integrity is uncertain.

Ending, export, and service limits

A storyteller may revoke future permission; an account holder may close a project or request eligible deletion. We may keep limited payment, consent, security, and legal records where required. Already shared or downloaded family copies are outside StorySitting’s technical control.

StorySitting is provided with reasonable care, but phone networks, speech services, storage providers, payment processors, and AI systems can fail. To the extent allowed by law, our liability for a paid sitting is limited to the amount paid for the affected service. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
