These are the terms for using StorySitting, run by AMF LLC in Indiana ("we"). By signing up you agree to them.

What you're buying

The Start ($99) includes three phone calls between Kaylie, our AI interviewer, and the person you choose (your storyteller), each about 30 minutes. From each call you get the recording, a transcript, and a written chapter, delivered through a private link and by email, as long as your storyteller agrees to share that story.

The book

The book includes twelve calls in all (the three calls of the Start, if you began there, count toward them), a book edited from the chapters your storyteller agreed to share, with your photos, captions and foreword, and three hardcover copies shipped to up to three US addresses. You approve a preview before anything is printed; once you send it to print it can't be changed. Extra copies are $59 each, shipped within the US. If a book arrives damaged or misprinted, tell us within 30 days and we'll replace it.

Only upload photos you have the right to use. By uploading them you let us put them in your family's book and nowhere else.

Consent comes first

• You agree that we may call the mobile number you give us, using an AI interviewer, and that the call is recorded.
• You'll add your storyteller to that call yourself, or hand them your phone. We don't call your storyteller until they have said yes, in their own words, on the recording.
• Only give us numbers you're entitled to use, and only sign up someone you know who is able to decide for themselves.
• Your storyteller can say no, stop, skip questions, keep stories private, or ask never to be called again. We always honor that.

Refunds

If your storyteller says no on the first call, or we can't reach them after trying three times, we refund you in full. If they stop partway through, email us: we'll refund the calls that didn't happen, or, for the book, print the book with the chapters there are.

About the chapters

Chapters are written from what your storyteller actually said, with repetition and filler removed. Our system checks every name and number against the recording, and removes anything it can't trace. Memories aren't always exact, though, and we don't verify facts beyond the recording. The chapters are family keepsakes, not historical, legal or medical records.

Kaylie is an AI

Kaylie is an automated interviewer and says so on every call. She can mishear or misunderstand. The recording is always kept, so the original words are never lost.

Acceptable use

Don't use StorySitting to contact someone who doesn't want to hear from you, to collect private information such as account details, or to harass or deceive anyone. We may end a service, without refund, if it's used that way.

Ownership

The stories belong to your family. You and your storyteller keep all rights to the recordings, transcripts and chapters. You give us only the permission we need to make and deliver them.

Liability

We provide StorySitting as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you paid us.
