FAQ
Clear answers before your family starts.
StorySitting handles private family memories, photos, recordings, and interview material. These are the questions families usually need answered first.
What is a Story Room?
A private starting place where relatives can submit memories, photos, questions, recipes, documents, and voice material for one family story project.
What is a Story Capsule?
The finished keepsake. Depending on the package, it can include edited story sections, quotes, captions, voice excerpts, timeline notes, a private digital capsule, and printable PDF or mini-book file.
Is this a memoir?
Not by default. StorySitting is smaller and more focused than a full memoir. It captures and finishes a meaningful story around a person, home, milestone, tradition, or transition. Larger memoir-style projects can be scoped separately.
Who owns the stories?
Your family keeps its family material. StorySitting uses submitted material to prepare the private project. We do not publish identifiable family material publicly without permission.
Can multiple relatives contribute?
Yes. That is one of the main advantages. Relatives can contribute written memories, questions, photos, documents, or audio depending on the project path.
Can less technical relatives participate?
Yes. The product direction includes phone call-ins and optional Recorder Kit support for families that need something easier than a website form.
Can we include old photos?
Yes. Photos, recipe cards, letters, documents, rooms, objects, and heirlooms can all help shape the Story Map and final Story Capsule.
Can we record by phone?
Phone call-in is part of the intended voice contribution path. For early projects, StorySitting may coordinate this manually or through Quo before native phone automation exists.
What is included in the Signature Story Capsule?
Private Story Room, Story Map, phone call-in option, 90-minute guided interview, 5 edited story sections, 10 pull quotes, 10 captions, 3-5 edited audio excerpts, Family Voice Collection, 10-16 page PDF, printable mini-book file, and private digital capsule.
What is not included?
Packages do not automatically include full memoir ghostwriting, hardcover printing, professional photography, full documentary film production, genealogy research, unlimited interviews, unlimited revisions, full photo restoration, legal archival services, or permanent hosting forever.
Are recordings private?
Recordings are used to prepare the private StorySitting project. Your Story Capsule is not public, not searchable, and not shared without permission.
Can this be used before selling a family home?
Yes. That is one of the strongest use cases. StorySitting can help gather room memories, photos, recipes, object stories, and family voices before the home changes hands.
Can this be a gift?
Yes. A Story Capsule can be a gift for a parent, grandparent, spouse, sibling, or family group, especially around birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, moves, or holidays.
How long does it take?
Timing depends on family responsiveness, package size, interview scheduling, and production scope. Early projects should confirm timelines before payment.
Can we order printed books later?
Yes, printed products can be scoped as upgrades. The default packages include digital and printable files unless a printed product is specifically included.
